{"id":1622,"date":"2017-07-06T15:43:22","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T19:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glidecoat.com\/?p=1622"},"modified":"2018-05-29T16:20:06","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T20:20:06","slug":"case-study-lost-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glidecoat.com\/es\/marine\/case-study-lost-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Case Study &#8211; Lost in Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Boat:<\/strong> Four Winns<\/p>\n<p><strong>Boat Year:<\/strong> 1992<\/p>\n<p><strong>Color:<\/strong> Red and White Hull<\/p>\n<p><strong>Issue:<\/strong> Fading and Oxidization<\/p>\n<p><strong>Owner:<\/strong> Tim Sims \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/lostintime.pro\/\">Lost in Time LLC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of our newest authorized Glidecoat Dealers in Colorado, Tim Sims at <a href=\"http:\/\/lostintime.pro\/\">Lost in Time LLC<\/a>, completed a restoration of his own boat with the help of <a href=\"\/product\/glidecoat-top-coating-kit\/\">Glidecoat\u2019s Liquid Crystal.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tim is the owner of a 1992 Four Winns, with a red and white hull. In 1992, when this boat was brand new, it looked amazing! Naturally over the course of 25 years, this two-toned hull lost its original luster, giving the boat a dull, faded look.<\/p>\n<p>This is a problem that every owner of an aging boat has experienced, and standard wax products will not solve this problem. <a href=\"\/product\/glidecoat-top-coating-kit\/\">Glidecoat Liquid Crystal<\/a> is the perfect product to help restore the gloss and shine of older boats, bringing back that show room finish! Utilizing <a href=\"\/smart-surface-science\/\">Glidecoat\u2019s Nano Technology<\/a>, the Liquid Crystal can fill in the pours of old gel coat, creating a smooth hydrophobic surface, while also restoring the original color of the hull. Once cured, <a href=\"\/product\/glidecoat-top-coating-kit\/\">Glidecoat Liquid Crystal<\/a> creates a diamond hard barrier, bonding with the gel coat.<\/p>\n<p>Before beginning the steps to restore his boat, Tim used a Gloss Meter to measure the amount of gloss and reflection of the surface. These readings averaged 26 around various areas on the hull.<\/p>\n<p>The boat was then washed with <a href=\"\/product\/nano-wash\/\">Glidecoat Nano Wash<\/a>, which is a high foam, non-abrasive soap. After washing, rinsing, and drying the boat, Tim began to compound the hull with <a href=\"\/store\/\">Glidecoat Nano Compound<\/a> \u2013 a medium cut. With the use of a dual action buffer, a medium cut foam pad, and the <a href=\"\/store\/\">Glidecoat Nano Compound<\/a>, the surface of the hull started to show some signs of life!<\/p>\n<p>After compounding the entire hull, removing oxidization and surface marks, Tim then used <a href=\"\/product\/nano-composite-polish\/\">Glidecoat Nano Polish<\/a>. With the use of a dual action buffer and a foam finishing pad, <a href=\"\/product\/nano-composite-polish\/\">Glidecoat Nano Polish<\/a> started to restore the shine of this old boat.<\/p>\n<p>After polishing, <a href=\"\/product\/surface-wipe-decontaminant\/\">Glidecoat Surface Wipe<\/a> was used to de-contaminate the surface, removing any leftover residue from the compound and polishing.<\/p>\n<p>The last and final step was the application of <a href=\"\/product\/glidecoat-top-coating-kit\/\">Glidecoat Liquid Crystal<\/a>. Tim applied the Liquid Crystal to the entire hull (waterline and up) twice, allowing the product to add further shine and gloss while also sealing the surface for up to 2 years, making it hydrophobic and providing much needed UV protection.
